Introducing…Free Fabric Fridays!

Blog update: The fabric winner has been announced at the end of this post. Thanks to all for playing along and commenting!

What better way to gear up for an industrious weekend of quilting than to give away free fabric, and give it away right now?

Here is some fabric that I got at Sample Spree at this past Spring Market. Isn’t it just divine? I have an “installation” of it in my studio at home and just love to gaze at it from time to time.

I got a fat stack of half yard cuts of linen fabrics from Seven Islands. Look how cute these fabrics are. I mean…really! Polka-dots and deer with glasses?!

And sorry…I am too selfish to give any of this away.

But…I also got fabrics that have multiple designs in them: zebras and stripes and chevrons…oh my!

I am keeping one to make a wholecloth table runner, but am giving the other away. And I am giving it away right now!

All you have to do is fill in the blank below, and by 3:00 Central Time today (Friday, July 6), I will select a random winner and announce in this blog post! Just make sure to fill in the blank and leave your response in the comments area by 3:00 P.M. Central–today!

My Pondering to You: If I won this fabric, I would make _____________.

Well, it is 3:00 PM and time for me to pick a winner! And through blind pointing at my screen, the winner is Sue Chef! Please email me at with your shipping address, and if you make that shirt for your little grandson with this fabric, please send email a picture!

I think this was a fun little Friday afternoon activity so I will definitely be doing this again soon, maybe even next Friday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, stitch-filled weekend!

  1. … repeating without the typo … … I’d make something worth entering in the upcoming Houston Area Fiber Artists’ gallery show.

  2. I would use it to make a Caftan for my friend who loves Africa and I’m afraid will never make another trip.

  3. I’ve been wanting to make some funky, eccentric quilted placements for my funky little family, and these fabrics would be so awesome to play with!

  4. If I won this fabric I would make a wall hanging for my sewing room to remind me of your great “ponderings”!

  5. I would make bandana scarves for my cat, Dexter, (who seems to be part dog). He’s always sporting something seasonal or gameday appropriate!

  6. A whole cloth piece of art for my new home office (or a lap quilt for my new home office chair!). What a groovy fabric. Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. I would make fun accents pillows for my guest room! Love your blog Pokey and welcome to Houston ( I’m in The Woodlands!)

  8. If I won this great fabric collection I would make a tablecloth for my little round table on the deck where I sit and read and sip tea on these extra warm summer days…..a perfect collection for the project.

  9. I’d probably stare at it for a while, taking in all its glory, then use it to make a wicked awesome scarf or tote bag!

  10. I would make a cute vest or jacket…something that says India and would be both cool and cool to wear. These fabrics are very inspiring.

  11. I would use it to make a very fun art journal for my friend Melly Testa. The one I made her got lost in the mail a while back 8(. I am in the process of making her another one. I have been piecing together a paper/fabric/found object journal for her that I will make sure will get to her this time!!!

  12. … a journal page, to go with my black-and-white theme notebook/journal. it’s been fun collecting different “color-lean” patterns and designs.

  13. Not much time to make a decision! I am a ponderer and hate to cut fabric until it speaks to me. I think perhaps a wall hanging would suit the delightful fabric well…..but maybe a pillow, or a computer carry bag–or maybe a garmet bag? oh my, I would love to win! Happy SUMMER!

  14. A diaper bag! Then take all the remnant scraps and collage it into my art journal! Oh, I’d love to win… good luck everybody!

  15. I would make a quilt for my granddaughter – actually I’ve already started it, but your fabric would fit right in. She loves zoos, so it’s a zoo-themed quilt.

  16. If I won this fabric I would make a quilt for the new baby my neighbor is having. It is perfect for a boy!!!

  17. i don’t know if this makes it in time for “central time” but I’ll give it a shot anyway – I’d love to win this because I would make a totally awesome, drool worthy tote-bag out of it!😉
